Well, we went out to look at the house on Wednesday to see what work, if any, had been done and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the exterior is making progress and that interior is looking close to finished.
They have applied a coat or two of stucco to the exterior and have started the wood and stone finishes. You can’t see them on our house yet, but the wood will cover the black tarpaper on the second story, and stone will cover the archway in front of our door and along the front of our house to about Evelyn’s head.
The vinyl flooring has been laid and the carpet is laying around the house in rolls, the finishing electrical has been done and our ceiling fans and light fixtures look very nice. As you can see our kitchen cabinets are in, but we do not yet have any countertops. We were a little concerned about our fridge fitting in the space provided, but it will, just. They didn’t give us a whole lot of wiggle room, even though our fridge is standard size.
The upstairs has made a good deal of progress as well, carpet padding has been laid throughout and the bathroom vanities are installed. We’re not sure that they left enough room in the bathrooms for the toilets, but I suppose they know what they are doing. The tile in the master bathroom has been finished and now we’re just waiting on countertops, finishing plumbing, and carpet and I think that the upstairs will be finished. We were pleasantly surprised to find out we are getting a storage cabinet in the laundry room as we weren’t planning on that, but bonus for us!
Lots of people have asked where our new house is located. If you are still curious you can click here and it should take you to a map of our location. There’s nothing there on the map but the marker is placed pretty accurately.
